formed in the year 1997, dir en grey quickly became very popular in their homeland. as they started touring more internationally, they became popular in the USA and Europe too. the band was formed in February 1997. before this, Kyo, Kaoru,Die, and Shinya were the members of the band called La:Sadie's. during their live show in Nakano, they met Toshiya, and quickly became friends with him.
